Pre-School Room: prepare children for the year prior to entering the primary school
- Here the children learn in a structured, theme based environment using books, arts and crafts, music, singing, puzzles, imagination and free play.
- The room is divided into different areas of interest which include the book corner, home corner, dress up, construction area and arts & craft.
- Children have the opportunity for both free choice and planned activities both indoors and outdoors.
- A daily curriculum is on display in the room.
- Topics are chosen taking into consideration the interests of the children on a monthly basis and these include seasons, transport, animals, hygiene and countries.
- Children are encouraged to become independent and responsible for their own actions.
- Progress files are kept on each child which can be shared with parents at any time.
Activities include:
- Art exploration
- Little chefs
- Physical development through exercises
- Fine motor skills through threading, peg boards & building blocks
- Language development through circle time, reading, rhymes, songs & role play
- Cognitive development through counting, sorting, recognising numbers, letters & patterns
- Creative development through the use of varied art, music & drama
